Thai Cabinet

This painted 17th C. Thai Cabinet was treated during my internship year at the Denver Art Museum with direction and assistance from Conservators David Turnbull and Carl Patterson.  The design depicts fruits, flowers, and other symbols of fertility such as pairs of rabbits and birds, so the cabinet was likely intended as a wedding gift.  It had areas of severe flaking and tenting of the paint layer due to previous water damage as well as overall surface grime, darkening, mold, and dust.
